New Hampshire House Speaker Declares: "It's Official: I'm An Asshat"

BillOBrienWell, no. Actually, he didn’t admit quite that much, but William O’Brien is certainly proving beyond a doubt that he represents the pinnacle of the Republican Idiocracy that came to power in New Hampshire (aka “Vermont’s Grumpy Neighbor”) in November. His latest proclamations of “get off my lawn”-ism aimed at those pesky kids exercising their democratic privilege to have an opinion different than his is a gem. Supporting a grotesque bill that would arbitrarily deny voting rights to thousands, he claimed:

“I look at towns like Plymouth and Keene and Hanover, and particularly Plymouth.” O’Brien told the group. “They’ve lost the ability to govern themselves.”

He said students in college towns register to vote on Election Day “and are basically doing what I did when I was a kid and foolish, voting as a liberal.

“That’s what kids do,” he said. “They don’t have life experience and they just vote their feelings. And they’ve taken away the town’s ability to govern themselves. It’s not fair.”

Nice. Really nice. I’m sure O’Brien has a really good explanation why kids who register and vote Republican aren’t equally foolish and inexperienced. Really, is this what the Republicans are left with when all their so-called “ideas” float to the surface like dead fish? Rigging the vote? Pathetic.

Update: There’s video, too.
